Devil’s Hunt
Devil’s Hunt comes from Polish developer Layopi Games and is the studio’s first game. The game is based on Paweł Leśniak’s novel “Equilibrium” and its events revolve around the war between darkness and light or angels and demons, as our contemporary world is the battlefield between them. The character you control is Desmond, the only factor that can tip the scales in favor of either side of the war, whether they are demons or angels. One man has the power to decide the fate of humanity and the world as we know it.
Desmond is the son of a wealthy businessman. His life is turned upside down by successive events. Then he decides to commit suicide. He then wakes up in Hell and the King of Hell orders him to fight angels on Earth. Then Desmond returns to life and awakens from his grave, and so begins the story of the war between angels and demons. . The story is exciting and contains surprising events that will definitely captivate you, but the speed of events is unjustified! It has greatly influenced storytelling. However, I think the story is interesting enough to keep the player engaged through their journey.
The devil might cry…maybe?
The gameplay in this game is similar to the way Batman fights – unfortunately in a worse way. There is no fluidity in combat and the number of attacks is small. The lack of a button to focus the camera on the enemy also doesn’t help the game in this regard and significantly detracts from the fun of combat. Because of the camera, you will find it difficult to fight against enemies and bosses. We were also bothered by the lack of variety in the enemies and the repetition of the bosses.
There are three special fire moves in the game and each move has its own development tree. Ghosts appearing from enemies increase development points in the game. The animation in the game is very primitive, especially in the movements of walking and running, and when the character runs, you can see the camera shaking in a strange way, which is annoying to the player’s eyes. I don’t know if that’s intentional? Or a technical error in the game… In any case, the game is too linear, and in general I think the game is weak in terms of gameplay.
The game is inspired by titles like Devil May Cry
The graphics in the game are relatively average, the details of the characters are acceptable, the variety of locations in the game is interesting and perhaps the exaggerated linearity of the game also contributes to this. What surprised me about the game, despite its tight budget, was the direction of the film performances. The performances in the game are excellent and the camera angles are professional, and they show the extent of the film’s director’s talent, despite the game’s weaknesses in other aspects. Surprisingly, the number of games on offer is almost 100. The total duration of all shows is approximately two hours.
There are many technical errors, such as the character freezing when approaching a wall for two seconds. In some scenes there is a drop in frame rate and the character also freezes for seconds when entering a new area. The game’s lifespan is good for these types of games and is around eight hours.
We received the PC version from the publisher before the release date. A console version of the game is planned for next year.
