A New Year and a New Game

A new year and a new game from the most famous shooting game series Call of Duty. This time we return to the popular Black Ops sub-series that highlights the Cold War between the United States of America and the Soviet Union. Of course, the game witnesses the return of familiar characters, including Woods and Mason, from previous Black Ops installments. Like any Cold War story, the relatively well-known event is an attempt to stop KGB agents from stealing and detonating nuclear explosives. In addition to the narrative element, the game is accompanied by the usual competitive and cooperative modes, but I wonder if the game stands out for presenting a distinctive and unique story while offering entertaining elements in the competitive and cooperative modes?

Anyone who has tried the previous part will quickly notice the differences, such as the fast pace of the game and the era of the game in the eighties, from the first moments of the game. The first new factor is building your character from the ground up, like in role-playing games. You will build not only his appearance but also your character’s background, from the role of a secret service agent to a former soldier and more. A Unique Story Mode

The story mode in the game also presented various elements, such as the presence of a headquarters to which you can return from one mission to the next, where you talk to the game’s characters and get to know them better. This headquarters allows you to choose the missions you want to carry out and find many different secrets. The missions you carry out involve other missions. The traditional Call of Duty is full of shooting action moments and many explosive moments. Among all the game’s missions, I found a special mission that involves breaking into the Lubyanka building of the Soviet secret service. This mission allows you to carry out your mission in more than one different way. This mission was satisfactory. So much so that I performed it 3 different times and each time I performed the task in a completely different way.

In addition, you will find various clues during the missions. Collecting these gives you the opportunity to unlock new things within the missions or more information about them. The rest of the events were linear, as already mentioned, but the ability to choose an answer to a large part of the conversations gave the game a refreshing character. Although the story has an expected ending, the introduction of a story mode with three different endings, along with the strange moments familiar from the Black Ops series, generally differentiated the experience from the previous installment.

Rich Content and Game Modes

As in every part of Call of Duty, the game content is rich. Once you have completed the story mode, you will have three more modes to spend countless hours in, such as the zombie mode, where you will find three different types, including the traditional endless zombie mode, in which you face countless zombies of different shapes and sizes. With the huge and deep design of the first stage, I have gone through 42 rounds so far and engaged with it for a long time, and I remember what is the factor that makes this addictive stage, that is, each round is special and different when the members Your team can work together excellently. The more you continue to survive, the stronger you become and the more available you become. You have stronger and stronger weapons, and that sense of continuous evolution is what makes this mode wonderful and successful even after all these years.

The other phase in Zombies mode limits you to two players and forces you to stay in a specific area, and that area changes after each round. Not only do you have to get rid of zombies, but you also have to stay within this circle at all times during your game. Personally, I found this phase to be a bit restricted, and I find the basic phase more pleasant and offers more freedom. The final stage is the Dead Ops arcade mode, returning for a third time. This is the least played mode, but its return is welcome, and its presence offers some variety, bringing back the fun of classic arcade games but mixed with the usual elements of Zombie mode.

Competitive Game Modes

Now let’s move on to the competitive game mode, which offers the different segments of its various well-known types, such as Team Deathmatch and Domination, and of course more, but I will shed more light on the two new modes, the first of which is VIP Escort. This mode is notable for inducing the same fear that you feel when you play Search and Destroy with enthusiasm. And the speed of Team Deathmatch, in each round you find yourself on the defending team or on the attacking team, and if not you are on the attacking team. The other stage that I personally like is Dirty Bomb, a stage that brings together 10 different teams of four players in a relatively large stage. The goal of each team is to collect the largest amount of uranium and store it in a specific location until it explodes. I found myself distracted in this phase within a few moments of concentrating. I need to collect uranium and store it in a specific place, and only moments when I focus on getting rid of enemies and other moments when I explain to my team members that it is the best way to collect uranium. The presence of all these different elements with team members unequipped for this phase makes this phase difficult, and I see this Warzone phase alone being enough to satisfy my battle royale desire.

Visual Improvements and Overall Experience

The new generation version offered nice visual improvements, such as the presence of ray tracing, which provided beautiful reflections of eighties neon colors. Although the appearance of the game is very impressive, I found some of the interfaces to be of very poor quality. Not to mention that when playing through the competition and cooperation phases, I noticed that the environment and the characters around me appear devoid of details, their appearance takes a few seconds. Of course, we can’t forget to mention the game’s support for 120 frames in competitive mode, which made the overall experience significantly smoother.
